The shop is the original structure for Ed’s Garage built in 1952 by owner Ed Boell and his father Elmer. In 1962 the office and fuel pumps were added. By the 1960’s, Ed’s Garage was a full-service gas station, repair shop and convenience store. Ed first retired in March of 1982, closing Ed’s Garage. In January of 1983, Ed’s son Dennis reopened Ed’s Garage with auto repair services as a full-time mechanic. Ed then came out of retirement a few years later to pump gas while Dennis continued as mechanic.

Ed continued to operate the full-service gas station until December 31, 1997 when he retired for good. His retirement in 1997 marked the last time Ed’s Garage functioned as a gas station and convenience store. Ed’s retirement was cut short when he passed away on January 28, 1998.
In 1998 Dennis officially bought Ed’s Garage from his mother, Vera. Then in August Dennis had the aging roof over the office replaced.

As automotive technology advanced, so did the need for new technological tools. In 2005 Ed’s Garage moved from carbon-copy service tickets to computer generated tickets and online repair manuals and service diagrams. Eventually the floor of the office was in need of repair and was replaced.
